5 Reasons to Join the #BAMFitPhotoADay Fitness Challenge

If you like this, mouseover the top right corner to pin it!

I am just 10 days into the July Photo Fitness Challenge and I am really excited and inspired by seeing others joining me! I decided to make my own photo-a-day challenge this month to not only help me stay on track, but also to help me connect with others that are working, struggling, pushing through the same fitness and eating challenges as I am. I purposefully made this first month as a “get-to-know-you” kinda month. Those that have joined me are posting pictures of their breakfast, style and the people and places that inspire them to keep fit.

Willpower is great, but support is also an important part of weight loss, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I know this firsthand from the experience I am living now with Shaklee 180™. The support I am receiving from the other women in the group as well as from family and friends has been tremendous. So, when this experience as a Shaklee Blogger ends on August 31, I want to make sure that I still have that support network I need to maintain my weight – or maybe even have grown it!

In My Closet: Runners Shoe Choices for Everyday

Running is known to take a toll on the individual’s body. Now, I am not saying that you shouldn’t pick up running. Running is a fantastic sport that you can practice on your own, as part of a team or both. But, it is important to remember that if you are going to take up running regularly, you should find out how to run. Sure, just wanting to head out the door is important, but you do need to have a proper runner’s gate, work on a proper heel strike, etc…otherwise you will quickly suffer foot pain – trust me, been there, done that! Some other ways to minimize foot pain are as follows:

  • work on your core (yes, work those abs!) that will help your posture, which will in turn help the way you run.
  • make sure shoes fit correctly, both running shoes and everyday shoes
  • increase your mileage gradually. Don’t start day one running 5 miles at top speed, get your body accustomed to the new activity. Try the Couch to 5K program from Cool Running, that’s how I went from zero to half marathon runner in less than a year
  • Don’t live in high-heels, they may be cute but not great for your feet

I’ve become very particular about point number 2 above. My everyday shoes and running shoes have to be super comfortable. The image above shows some of the shoes that make up my everyday life and though all functional, they are all also very cute!

July Fitness Photo-A-Day-Challenge #BAMFitPhotoADay

I’ve tried doing a photo-a-day challenge in the past, but for some reason have never finished out the month. I do take oodles of pictures everyday on my phone, but sometimes I don’t make the time to post them either. I’m really enjoying Instagram at the moment, even more so now that Instagram have added video (with filters!) to the mix.

So, in an effort to keep connecting with all of YOU via Instagram and to continue to motivate myself as I start month 5 of 6 on Shaklee 180™ I have created my very on Photo-A-Day Fitness Challenge for July!

Like it? Spread the word by scrolling over to the top right hand corner and pinning it!

Each day is meant to be easy enough to do, even if you aren’t having your most all out fit day! I’m not trying to make this hard work, just trying to have fun, connect and inspire others (and myself!) to get and stay active.

I hope you’ll join along and I look forward to seeing your photos.

Wanna join the July Photo-A-Day Fitness Challenge?

  • Make sure to save the photo above to your computer, phone or even consider pinning it so others will find it.

I have received free products, online support and incentives for participating in the Shaklee Corporation blogger program. My opinions are my own.  People following the weight-loss portion of the Shaklee 180™ Program can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week. I am also a Shaklee Independent Distributor.

Can you believe I am already at the end of month 4? I sure can’t and I am truly amazed and happy with how much this program has changed my life, I am already starting to feel sad about it being over – even though I still have 2 months to go. So, I promised myself this month that I wouldn’t babble in the update video, but unfortunately I did! I wasn’t able to edit much, so I will break it down for you below in case you find it too painful to watch.

I talk about the 4 Ps – Plateaus, Perspective, Putting it Out there and Pace.

#Shaklee180™ Update: Truth is, Losing Weight is Hard

Join me in doing a 180

I have received free products, online support and incentives for participating in the Shaklee Corporation blogger program. My opinions are my own.  People following the weight-loss portion of the Shaklee 180™ Program can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week. I am also a Shaklee Independent Distributor.

Whoa, here we are rolling into just over halfway through month 4 of my journey on the Shaklee 180™ weight management program. If you watched my video from last month you’ll see that I was a little underwhelmed by my month 3 progress. To be fair, I was losing weight and trying to stay positive about this fact, but the numbers had slowed from 7 pound weight loss in one month to just a meager 3 pounds (insert sad panda face here).

This month, I decided to go a little Sigmund Freud on myself and examine where this anger towards myself was coming from. In a nutshell, this is what I decided…

Losing weight is hard, y’all!

I take part in what I consider to be a moderate amount of physical activity 3-5 times per week (depending on the week). But when life kicks me in the butt, I get really down on myself. I’m someone that doesn’t function past zombie level when my sleep is interrupted, and last month as well as the beginning of this month it was. You see  this beautiful girl, this beautiful ray of light, yes my Little Miss 19 month old ball of energy. She decided to go from a reasonably good sleeper, sleeping from 7:30 at night til anywhere from 6:30-7 in the morning. And then turned into waking in the middle of the night for hours at a time to then waking for the day anywhere from 5-6 in the morning! Aye, ay, ay! This was just not working for this mama.

Part of what I knew I had to do if Shaklee 180™ was going to be successful for me was to start to cut out the late nights on the computer and get to bed earlier. I was mostly starting to do this before Shaklee, but in the past 3 months I had gotten even better at it, opting to turn off the computer and either go to bed uber early or sneak in another metabolic boosting 15-20 minute workout. So her changes in sleep were setting me back.

Greek Yogurt Covered Strawberry Nuggets

Preparing strawberries for freezing

We’ve had a crazy stop start to spring here with memorial day weekend being positively cold. A couple of weekends ago the thermometer soared from mid 50’s to high 80’s in one day! My family loves strawberries. all. the. time! And when it’s that hot, I can add them to just about anything. I put them in cold teas, fruit salads, green salads and just pop ’em by the handful.

From little Miss to Mr BAM, we all love them. I thought how can we combine strawberries with Greek Yogurt from Cabot Creamery and this is what we came up with! Super simple, healthy, super easy and everyone looooves them.

Check out How to Make Greek Yogurt Covered Strawberry Nuggets by Ghada Vanderpool on Snapguide.

I received money saving coupons from Cabot as a thank you for entering a contest, which inspired me to create these little nuggets one day!
