Super Bowl Commercials Sneak Peek from Disney

If you’re like me, you enjoy football for everything but the actual game. I love spectator sports, but there is something about the stop and start of football that has never fully won me over. But who can resist the Super Bowl, the fanfare that surrounds this last game of the season is hard to beat. I remember when I was younger (i.e. before kids), I was able to sit around for hours eating food, drinking, and watching the SuperBowl – the tailgaiting with friends AND the commercials made it AH-Some!

Fast Forward to Super Bowl 2013 and I have to admit, I am a little excited! If you haven’t yet heard Beyonce is the half-time entertainment, and the commercials as always promise to amaze!

A little birdie told me that 2 of Disney’s highly anticipated feature-length releases for 2013 will be launching trailer. Check out the sneak peeks below.

The Lone Ranger

I’ve said it before, I love me some Johnny Depp and I can’t imagine he will disappoint in The Lone Ranger due in theaters July 3. Catch the Super Bowl Pregame show to see the trailer, or if you can’t wait head, over to Yahoo! to see it online now.

Free Lion King Exhibit, Brooklyn Santa, and Kids Club Thirteen Holiday Picks

There is so much on at the moment that I really have to pace myself and the kids if we are to make it to Christmas in one piece! Little Miss is a little under the weather, but I’m hoping that this weekend she will kick whatever she is fighting. Meanwhile Mr 5 woke on Thursday pretty much on fire – well, he had a high fever. We got him settled and today he was a little lacklustre, but overall seemingly lots better.

Without further ado, here are a few awesome things you can do in Brooklyn and Manhattan this weekend and beyond in December.

Over the past 15 years 65 million people have experienced the Lion King on Broadway and to celebrate they have opened a free interactive exhibit Inside the Lion King at 42nd & 6th Avenue (across from Bryant Park). The exhibit runs from 10am – 8pm daily til December 16.

Run Like a Princess in 2013 at These Races

As the weather turns somewhat wintery, I can’t help but hang out and dream about warmer temps ahead. Granted, those warmer days are many months away, but hey it never hurts to dream a little dream. As I look ahead to 2013, two of the sunniest parts of the year I am dreaming of are our trip to Orlando in September and running in warm weather again. Well, when you combine the two it makes me think of Disney’s races – unfortunately I will not be in Orlando at the time of any 2013 races. One day, one day I’d like to run like a true princess at Disney!

In the meantime, I’ve compiled a list of US races that are fit for a princess.

New Trailer for Oz The Great and Powerful

The Wizard of Oz is one of my all time favorite movies so I am looking forward to the release of Oz the Great and Powerful in 2013. It is a look at the Land of Oz from a different and intriguing perspective. A creative storyline  that looks at the history of the Wizard, didn’t you ever wonder where he came from? Check out the newest trailer on iTunes now.

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful wizard but into a better man as well.

You can catch up on the latest Oz the Great and Powerful news on Facebook and Twitter. This wonderful wizardry hits theaters March 8, 2013.

I’m a huge fan of James Franco (127 hours and Spiderman), he’s a great actor and easy on the eyes! Check out this dreamy photo from the movie.

Wreck-it Ralph Weather the Weekend Activity Sheets

I’m thankful that I have power and heat, food and my family all safe and sound. We realize it could have been much worst for us as we go for walks through the neighborhood and stumble upon wrecked cars and downed trees only within a few minutes of our house. We have quickly realized how much time we spend in transit and out of the house. That’s why when we meet our neighbors on the streets, we all comment at what a loooong week it has been first waiting for Sandy to arrive and now dealing with her aftermath.

Normally I would bundle up the kids and take them to the park for a play. If it is really icy cold out, then I would take them to the local YMCA or the Library. None of those are an option as the parks are closed for maintenance and the Y is serving as a shelter.

I can’t complain, but as a family we sure are putting our imagination to the test as both myself and Mr BAM juggle work and the kids while coming up with new games to play, things to bake and people to visit. So, it’s always nice when a new activity sheet pops up that will keep Mr P occupied for a little while. Poor wee dude is missing the routine of school :(

Without further ado, if like me you won’t be able to make it to opening weekend of Wreck-it Ralph, even though you’d like to, why not give these work sheets a go.

Click here to download the Wreck-it Ralph Activity Sheets (4.8 MB). It includes coloring pages, color by numbers, mazes and more. And if you do go to Wreck-it Ralph this weekend, come back here and gloat 😉

The Lone Ranger Rides Onto the Big Screen in July 2013

I’m a big fan of Johnny Depp and when you match him with Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski you get action packed movies with beautiful cinematography like the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. So naturally, my ears perked up when I saw that the three were teaming up for The Lone Ranger. Well, let’s just say neither my ears or eyes were disappointed.

Check out the latest trailer and see what you think!

A thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes.  Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

This new version is definitely a departure on an old classic, but it looks like it’s gone in the right direction.

How much you wanna bet there will be lots of kids going as Tonto and the Lone Ranger for Halloween next year?

You can catch up with all the goss around the Lone Ranger on Facebook and Twitter.
