What a week it has been. Monkey #1 has had the most persistent cough that he just can’t seem to shake. We’ve tried hot lemon and honey drinks, heaps of greens at dinner, more rest and have now even resorted to cough syrup. It is just starting to clear, but boy was it a nasty bug. There is something about the bugs kids pick up at school, they are always superbugs! So, he passed it on to me, I passed it onto my husband and now little miss Monkey #2 has it as well. Yuck, nothing worst that en entire house of sick people. I had the worst sinus pains and aches for about 2 days, so my intended workout plan for the week did not really go as planned. The upside is that I did in fact start the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and surprised myself with how manageable the workouts were. Of course my body felt worked out (sore abs and arms particularly) but I’d been convincing myself that I was completely out of shape, which now I don’t think I am!
I tracked my measurements last week, haven’t bothered to check again but will also take photos this week…their will be a wicked after photo in the next coming months 🙂
I tracked down a cover for the running stroller and after waiting a week it finally arrived! Excited for warm weather this week so me and my sidekick can get out for a run.
Today Mamavation asks,
What steps have you made so far this year to improve your quality of life?
One of the toughest things about being home with baby is not knowing how to direct my energy when tiredness is overcome by boredom. Normally, I would have thrown my shoes and headed out for a walk or a run when I wanted to eat out of boredom. That’s not so easy when you’ve just put your little one down for a nap and don’t want to wake her. So, for me, one of the biggest changes I’ve made to improve my quality of life is to come up with other things to do around the house so that I don’t just eat out of boredom. When I reeeeeallly feel like I want to eat, I try to at least bake or cook something healthy – like Kale Chips or Apple Choc Milk Bites – Lactation Mini Muffins when I am craving sweets. Has anyone else had crazy sugar cravings when breastfeeding? I can’t seem to get through a day without a major sweet craving.
I swear my son spent the first year of his life sleeping in the stroller! Lol. I hope getting the stroller cover will help you get out more… having a sunshade and raincover helped me. Now having 2 it is tough..but you can do it.
Being sick is no fun. Do your best and remember it will be over soon. Have a great week.
I hate superbugs!! We went through about 2 months where someone was always sick, I hope they never come back! It seems every time I want to go out for a walk, the baby has fallen asleep too. I hear you on the sweets while breastfeeding also, they aren’t as bad as they were the first 6 months or so.

I am sorry you’ve had so much sickness at your house. My kids have had colds almost constantly throughout this winter, it’s been awful.
About the Shred—I’ve had the DVD for almost 2 years and haven’t gone beyond opening the shrinkwrap. So need to get on that one!

Open the DVDs lol. I’ve only ever had the first one, but would like to get my hands on #s 2 and 3 for better results. I’m sure you’ll like the workout even if you don’t typically like that sorta stuff. They are intense and quick, over before you know it
Have you tried a humidifier for the cough? My 6 year old has brought home this nasty cough TWICE in a month! It’s horrible, but I’ve noticed when we put a humidifier in her room, it helps get rid of it and keep it away (when we turn it off, the cough starts to creep back!) Hope they are feeling better!

The humidifier is a good suggestion. He’s always susceptible to respiratory stuff, started with croup when he was younger – healthy all year round but always one chesty ‘thing’ per winter
