Well they’ve been talking about it all week and it came! New York’s first snowfall of the winter 2011-2012 season. I wandered out this morning to pick up a few hibernating essentials – coffee and hot chocolate mainly. It’s beautiful and snowy out, and so much warmer than it has been all week. Pity that I have still not purchased any winter boots, but I’m happy the kids are all kitted out.
Today will be a good day to rug up on the couch and watch the snow fall. If we’re feeling adventurous we may head out to Prospect Park with a few rubbish bags and attempt to slip slide around in them.
Mommy Poppins suggests these areas for sledding in New York.
Here’s a few pics from my early morning venture out in my nabe.
You can send some of that snow down to us. My daughter really wants to play in the snow.

WOW those are beautiful pictures. I sure wish we would get some snow for my daughters they would have a blast!
We got a bit of snow here in WV over the weekend, too! Haven’t had much winter otherwise. But alot of cold. Kids loved it!

Not too much snow here in Kansas but I used to live in MA. I mostly don’t miss having to struggle thru the snow and shoveling and what not but looking at your pictures is making me miss the clean look that snow gives to everything. Very pretty despite being a pain in the butt!
OMG! I grew up in that neighborhood (Kensington) and my parents and sisters still live there. I used to bank at Astoria Federal (the building at the corner of your third photo), was always at the post office down the block (does Marie still work there?), and that was my train station.

Wow! We are neighbors. That’s my hood. I remember that storm too. Was interesting to drive in, but we got through it.
