Our Family’s 72 Hour Summer Sport Olympics with Rookie USA #RookieUSA

As someone who used to teach physical education to children of all ages, the concept of brain drain and kids gaining weight over summer because they no longer have access to organized physical activity at school saddens me. Maybe it is because sport and being active is a fundamental part of who my husband and I are, but my little rookie is always moving.

We were lucky enough to have been sent a selection of Rookie USA’s clothes for my 4.5 year old little rookie. We took up the opportunity to stage 72 hours of Olympic inspired sports, celebrating his achievements big and small along the way. He’s a big fan of running, often going on short runs with my husband and I. Dressed in some of the best in kids’ activewear from Nike, Converse and Levi’s from RookieUSA.com, he had an amazing time. I am already familiar with Nike Dri-Fit as a soft breathable fabric, so I knew the Dri-Fit tees and shorts for my little rookie would be a great addition to his wardrobe – and they are.

Mr 4.5 is one of those kids that actually likes getting clothes as a present, so he was beaming when he went through the clothes Rookie USA sent. He wanted to try them all on at once. With the heat, the only ones I wasn’t able to click a picture of him wearing were the jeans. We all know Levi’s are built to last, so I am looking forward to him wearing these slim fit jeans in the fall. He’s also notorious for changing clothes a few times a day, so it was great to have tees and shorts that easily mixed and matched.

I am more than impressed as well with the range of tees in everything from 100% cotton from Converse and Levi’s to Nike Dri-Fit. These fabrics wash well, so they should last long.

One of his favorite outfits is the Nike Jumpman all white sleeveless tee with mesh detailing and white shorts with black trim. He ran this track for the first time all on his own. It was mostly determination, but he was pretty proud to be doing it in his new clothes. He said his clothes were ‘superman’ clothes.

When he’s not running, playing soccer or just scooting to the next place, he’s just being him. Sometimes that means being goofy.
