How to get a holla from the President

I found out President Barack Obama will address greetings to people celebrating milestones such as special birthdays and anniversaries. I thought I’d do a little digging around to see if this service is provided for newborns. Lo and behold, it is! Regardless of your personal/political feelings toward the President, you have to admit it would make a fantastic memento to receive a greeting from the President on the arrival of your wee one. I for one am still a fan of President Bamm Bamm so I will be sending away for one of these greetings to commemorate the birth of my American child. If you would like to do the same, here is what you need to know.

  • name and home address of child
  • exact date of birth (month, day, year)
  • your (the requestor’s) name and daytime phone number
  • any specific mailing instructions if other than to the child’s address

Send the above information to: White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. 20500. For faster service, requests can also be faxed to 202-456-2461.

That’s it! Keep in mind, this service is only for US citizens.

Have you ever sent away for a greeting from the President to commemorate a Golden Anniversary, 100th birthday or birth of your child? What grand way do you celebrate the birth of your child?
