A New Bra from Leading Lady and a New Attitude

I was recently given the opportunity to trial 2 bras from the premiere intimate apparel company Leading Lady. You may have thought that they only carried bras for nursing mothers, but you would be wrong. They also carry a comprehensive range of full figure intimates, sexy stretch lace wire-free and underwire bras, supportive and seamless sport and yoga bras, and cozy sleep and leisure bras – all of which can be purchased directly on LeadingLady.com.

It couldn’t have come at a better time to pick out a few nice bras. I had just recently joined the local YMCA in an effort to supplement my running routine with weights and machines to improve my overall strength and agility. So I picked out Leading Lady’s Wirefree Sport Bra and Leading Lady’s Crossover Racer Back Front Closure Leisure Bra.

The Wirefree sports bra is good for those days when I am doing just weights and abdominal work at the gym. It is not intended for heavy activity, so I haven’t worn it running. But you can definitely still work up a sweat and enjoy comfort and a nice design. Racer backs are always my preference when doing any sort of physical activity, it just feels like the girls are being kept in place :) This bra definitely does not disappoint – it is breathable and wicks away the sweat.

Creamy Pumpkin Soup Recipe

Last year was our first American Thanksgiving, and though there is plenty more to the holiday than eating, I have to say I really did embrace the art of stuffing my face. I became a big fan of pumpkin in a can! I swear, I don’t think the stuff exists much outside of the US. I have a friend in Toronto that knows about it, but we definitely didn’t have it in New Zealand, and I know for a fact I couldn’t find it in Montreal last year.

The Cost of Wearing Stylish Eyeglasses #SeeMoreVSP

It is no coincidence that I first discovered I needed glasses at the same time as I started University. At least 75 percent of my classes were in big auditoriums with an average of 75-100 students. Choosing to sit somewhere in the middle of the big auditorium still made for a long viewing distance to the whiteboard. At first I thought I was just tired, you know, from enjoying all that University life has to offer. I rubbed my eyes during class and rationalized that I only had difficulty seeing early in the morning. Truth is, like so many other people, my eyes were becoming strained and I would need glasses to see far. Because I was working part-time, I decided to purchase my glasses myself. The cost of the eye doctor appointment, the frames and the lenses was pretty steep, and I had simple nearsightedness. I remember wondering how much money some of my friends must’ve spent over the years on bifocals and other corrective lenses that they’d been wearing since we were little.

The Lone Ranger Rides Onto the Big Screen in July 2013

I’m a big fan of Johnny Depp and when you match him with Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski you get action packed movies with beautiful cinematography like the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. So naturally, my ears perked up when I saw that the three were teaming up for The Lone Ranger. Well, let’s just say neither my ears or eyes were disappointed.

Check out the latest trailer and see what you think!

A thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes.  Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

This new version is definitely a departure on an old classic, but it looks like it’s gone in the right direction.

How much you wanna bet there will be lots of kids going as Tonto and the Lone Ranger for Halloween next year?

The Secret to Preserving Your Pumpkin Til Halloween

In New Zealand, Halloween is much more about adults getting dressed up for parties than about trick or treating. So last year was my son’s first real Halloween here in New York City. We were living in the Upper West Side at the time on a street that has been mentioned across many blogs and hard copy magazines as one on THE best streets to trick or treat on in the Upper West Side. Needless to say, his little 4 year old brain was blown away by all the decorations and the pumpkins.

Pumpkins lined the stairs to the brownstone houses in the early days of October, but few of them were carved. My husband having grown up in New Zealand and the UK didn’t have much exposure to Halloween either growing up. So between the 2 of them, they were excited to carve pumpkins by October 1st! Being from Canada and absolutely loving Halloween, I had to try and convince them to wait at least til after the 20th to carve the pumpkin – otherwise it would rot.
