The Lone Ranger Rides Onto the Big Screen in July 2013

I’m a big fan of Johnny Depp and when you match him with Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski you get action packed movies with beautiful cinematography like the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. So naturally, my ears perked up when I saw that the three were teaming up for The Lone Ranger. Well, let’s just say neither my ears or eyes were disappointed.

Check out the latest trailer and see what you think!

A thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes.  Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

This new version is definitely a departure on an old classic, but it looks like it’s gone in the right direction.

How much you wanna bet there will be lots of kids going as Tonto and the Lone Ranger for Halloween next year?

The Secret to Preserving Your Pumpkin Til Halloween

In New Zealand, Halloween is much more about adults getting dressed up for parties than about trick or treating. So last year was my son’s first real Halloween here in New York City. We were living in the Upper West Side at the time on a street that has been mentioned across many blogs and hard copy magazines as one on THE best streets to trick or treat on in the Upper West Side. Needless to say, his little 4 year old brain was blown away by all the decorations and the pumpkins.

Pumpkins lined the stairs to the brownstone houses in the early days of October, but few of them were carved. My husband having grown up in New Zealand and the UK didn’t have much exposure to Halloween either growing up. So between the 2 of them, they were excited to carve pumpkins by October 1st! Being from Canada and absolutely loving Halloween, I had to try and convince them to wait at least til after the 20th to carve the pumpkin – otherwise it would rot.

Introducing the Versatile Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40

I was lucky enough to work with The SITS Girls and Graco this past weekend on a launch event at Babies R Us in Union Square. I was assisting for this event, so it was an added bonus to also have Graco Brand Specialist Denise on hand who was able to walk me through the many unique features of the Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40.

Because they have made their newest car seat not only versatile, but easy to use, she was able to walk me through some of the finer points in no time. I was then able to dazzle a few bloggers and moms-to-be who wandered by for the event with my knowledge.

HelloFresh: Out of the Box Fresh New Dinner Ideas

I am all about simplicity in everything I do. I like to enjoy life, but I want my enjoyment to be uncomplicated. So, when I was contacted by HelloFresh to trial their new meal delivery service I was intrigued. HelloFresh is a simple concept, for a reasonable fee you receive a box with all the ingredients you need to create 3 meals (other meal plans are available). All that you need is in the box? That was my first question to which they replied, “yes, apart from salt and pepper.” Sounds like a win-win to me, enough fresh food delivered to my door to prepare 3 easy meals for the week.

I had no idea of what types of meals I would be receiving, all I knew was that their would be enough in the box for 2 people to eat 3 meals along with the recipes to create the meals. We immediately noticed the high quality of the vegetables, especially that none of cheaper (and more boring!) vegetables like potatoes, cauliflower and broccoli were in sight, but instead the more interesting vegetables like snow peas, shiitake mushrooms and yellow beans were in the box – yum! Not to knock the boring veggies, but it was nice to feel like I was eating out, easting a little more special than usual without the price tag that comes with restaurant dining.

All the meats and fish are packaged and labeled separately as are the vegetables and other ingredients like pasta and soya sauce and stock cubes. It’s easy to see what goes with what and to separate the ingredients out in the fridge.

HelloFresh sends amazing recipes and ingredients in the exact quantities needed to your door every week – saving time and hassle.

Mr. BAM and I both like to cook, but I have to admit he is probably better at it. He really liked the HelloFresh box because he was certain that he would have everything he needed to complete the meal. HelloFresh takes the guesswork out of measuring individual ingredients by providing them in the correct quantities needed to cook for 2.

I really liked it cause it helped us break the monotony in our regular dinner routines.

Mindmap Your Happiness

Happiness is swinging at the park like a child

Mr BAM and I have always been good at forward thinking. Looking at where we want our lives to go and how we plan on getting there. Things don’t always go to plan, but at least we try! And sometimes things not going to plan is not always a bad thing.  As a couple that ran a business together, we made a regular thing of planning out business goals from year to year. Now that each of us in on separate career paths, we don’t plan out the business instead we map out our happiness.

There is something about writing goals and aspirations down. First, it clears my head and second it makes dreams seem like they just might come true.

There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.
