PishPosh Mommy: Organization for the on-the-go Mommy

I remember being pregnant with Mr P and trying to build my baby registry. It’s all so foreign and the best way to find products that work is to ask the advice of moms who have gone before you. The diaper bag was one item that no two moms will give you the same advice on. Some moms want function and don’t care about fashion, some want a bag big enough to carry everything but the kitchen sink, others don’t want their diaper bag to look like a diaper bag. I remember settling on a backpack style diaper bag, reasoning that function definitely trumped all other features of a diaper bag. When I actually started carrying my diaper bag backpack, I was disappointed. I wanted the leather handbags I used to carry – in rich purple and blue faux leather, not this horrible school kid like backpack in bright green – yuck! It absolutely clashed with everything.

I recently met PishPosh Mommy at the Brookly Baby Expo and was introduced to their Quickzip Carryall Organizer. Now this, this is the perfect solution for keeping your handbag identity while still having it function as a diaper bag. With several internal pockets, an internal zippered pocket as well as external pockets, the carryall makes it easy to store diapers, wipes, creams, toys and bottles and sippy cups – zip it all up and then drop it in your normal coveted handbag. The pockets inside a diaper bag are what make them necessary – but with the PishPosh Mommy Carryall, you carry these internal pockets with you from bag to bag – no need to sacrifice style!

In My Closet: Runners Shoe Choices for Everyday

If you like this, mouseover the top right corner to pin it!

Running is known to take a toll on the individual’s body. Now, I am not saying that you shouldn’t pick up running. Running is a fantastic sport that you can practice on your own, as part of a team or both. But, it is important to remember that if you are going to take up running regularly, you should find out how to run. Sure, just wanting to head out the door is important, but you do need to have a proper runner’s gate, work on a proper heel strike, etc…otherwise you will quickly suffer foot pain – trust me, been there, done that! Some other ways to minimize foot pain are as follows:

  • work on your core (yes, work those abs!) that will help your posture, which will in turn help the way you run.
  • make sure shoes fit correctly, both running shoes and everyday shoes
  • increase your mileage gradually. Don’t start day one running 5 miles at top speed, get your body accustomed to the new activity. Try the Couch to 5K program from Cool Running, that’s how I went from zero to half marathon runner in less than a year
  • Don’t live in high-heels, they may be cute but not great for your feet

I’ve become very particular about point number 2 above. My everyday shoes and running shoes have to be super comfortable. The image above shows some of the shoes that make up my everyday life and though all functional, they are all also very cute!

Delivery Man Movie Puts a Twist on Family

Delivery Man stars Vince Vaughn, Cobie Smulders and Chris Pratt and will be in theaters November 22. Vince Vaughn plays an affable underachiever looking for his purpose in life, when he finds out he’s fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Now he must decide whether or not to come forward when 142 of them want to meet their biological father.

Wowsers! Can you imagine? When I think that 2 little people look up to me and look to me for guidance…the power and importance of being a mother is at once energizing, and a heavy (but happy to have) burden. Will I scar them with my own “baggage” and issues? Will I always be able to provide for them and nurture their natural talents and abilities? Will they want and need my love, affection and opinion?

I’m sure we will have our ups and downs as a family, but between 3 countries, 4 cities and 2 continents since I first met Mr BAM in Auckland, New Zealand and since we had our son Mr P in Christchurch, then moved to Auckland and then New York while I was 6 months pregnant with our now American Little Miss – phew! I couldn’t imagine living this adventure without one of these kiddies. My kids are super special, Mr P particularly to move from New Zealand to New York and to have enjoyed every minute of it and to continue to thrive.

Best Use of a Canadian Passport

– image courtesy of Ad Week

I remember when I first started really traveling and meeting people from other countries. I sometimes jealously thought to myself, I wish my passport allowed me to stay indefinitely in such and such country or enter bladibla country and to work with little paper work. It was a silly thing to feel jealous about, seeing as I never really had the means (or money) to say stay in a tropical paradise like Mallorca for an indefinite amount of time. But, hey I couldn’t help but grumble when my Canadian passport didn’t even make it easy for me to work here in the US. Now a European passport, that’s a key to the world…

Well today – on Canada Day – I read about this pretty cool use for a Canadian Passport – to open a fully stocked beer fridge. Yes, you read correctly. If you are Canadian, or have ventured to Canada, then you know Molson Beer, it’s a staple to my brothers and sisters north of the border. Molson is the Canadian beer brand famously know for the I AM CANADIAN campaign.

Shaklee 180™ Update: Plateaus, Perspective, Putting it out there and Pace [Video]

disclosure: This is a sponsored post as part of the Shaklee Corporation blogger program. I have received free products, online support and incentives for participating in the Shaklee Corporation blogger program. My opinions are my own.  People following the weight-loss portion of the Shaklee 180™ Program can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week. I am also a Shaklee Independent Distributor.

Can you believe I am already at the end of month 4? I sure can’t and I am truly amazed and happy with how much this program has changed my life, I am already starting to feel sad about it being over – even though I still have 2 months to go. So, I promised myself this month that I wouldn’t babble in the update video, but unfortunately I did! I wasn’t able to edit much, so I will break it down for you below in case you find it too painful to watch.

I talk about the 4 Ps – Plateaus, Perspective, Putting it Out there and Pace.
