Get Organized with The Organized Parent

Being a mother is an organizational task in itself. Getting kids off to school, remembering special events at school, playdates (for mama and children) and then add to that keeping track of your regular blog writing schedule and making that all fit in with your husband’s life as well!

That is why I was happy to be given a Weekly Schedule Notepad by Donovan Designs and sold at The Organized Parent.

The pad comes with an adhesive magnet, so I can put it on the fridge and keep it where I can always see it.

In the time I have had it, I’ve come up with a few different ways to use it. Some weeks, I have split the days in 2 and used 2 different colors to keep track of 2 different things. For instance, on the top part I planned my dinners for the week, on the bottom part I kept track of blog posts that needed to go live.

Planning ahead helps to alleviate stress for me by knowing what I need to do and how long I have to do it. Instead of wondering what to make for dinner, I just look at what I had previously decided with a clear mind, instead of when hungry and dealing with the kids’ ‘witching hour’.

Other reasons to plan ahead include making sure you schedule enough time for all the important parts of your life: personal time, family time, work, kids’ activities and whatever other blocks of time are needed for a balanced life. Looking back at my week helped me to reorganize how I schedule my writing time and come up with a way to better manage my time online.

Another use is to keep track of something on the fly. It’s a known fact that tracking what you eat and analyzing it can help to show where changes need to be made in your eating habits. I tried this for about a day, even though I know it can be helpful, it’s something I’m not ready to do.

All in all, if you plan ahead you stand to be more productive, and when you analyze the week that has just passed you can make changes for the better.

How would you use a weekly planner?
